To provide opportunities for students to apply interdisciplinary knowledge to solve practical problems; encourage students to do scientific research through STEM education; and improve the roles and responsibilities of parents of students in co-operating with schools in educational activities, Le Hong Phong Gifted High School organized STEM Day in two days. 

During the fair, guests and students visited more than 80 STEM products made by parents and students; attended the workshop “ Instructing students to do scientific research through STEM Education"; enjoyed technological  demonstrations  by the students and some universities;  designed and installed some models of STEM products; interacted with intelligent robots, experienced  high-tech products  in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The school year 2016-2017 was the first year Le Hong Phong Gifted High School launched the STEM design competition, but received positive feedback and enthusiastic participation from the students. The fair gathered 83 products of 32 classes of the whole school, including 9 agricultural products, 9 design models, 31 furniture products - home appliances, 22 cosmetic products , 12 electronic mechanical products. From the number of 400 students participating in the STEM club from the beginning of the school year, to this time, this number  has reached over 1000. In general, the products were on the right track of STEM education. Students have focused on solving environmental problems, food hygiene and safety, non-toxic chemicals in cosmetic products, energy, and reading culture.

 Theoretical knowledge has been applied  to real  life by students themselves. STEM Club with the advantage of holding activities since  the beginning of STEM approach introduction,  had the most systematic, and well-organized  research procedures and manufactural designs . Projects on rooftop farming, mighty  mushrooms, classroom bookcases, natural cosmetics, Nam Van temporary bridge attracted the attention of both students and teachers. In the process, the stendents had opportunities to go on a field trip (NamVan temporary bridge), be guided by experts (classroom bookcases project), visit factories (natural cosmetics, rooftop farming). The classes with shorter time chose the projects corresponding to their timing. Many classes only chose simple, familiar products but they were thoroughly concerned with the theoretical knowledge and flexible application to make their products. 

In the farm area, many plant models have been designed to save space. The cosmetic sector with the largest product range of all fields attracted the attention of many guests, especially female visitors. With safety criteria, non toxic chemicals, many beautiful products were not inferior to the products in the market. The design area with the idea of ​​building a dream city has created models of schools, houses and hospitals, while saving space and ensuring airy space. Electronic, mechanical products were always challenging for the students but equally attractive. Of the 12 products in this field, up to 5 products belonged to Physics classes. Products of  portable battery chargers, wind turbines, may be definitely the products of  Industry 4. However, there were still some products without thoroughly research the theoretical knowledge. 

The most important outcome of the fair is that STEM thinking awakens the creative potential of students, helping them to improve their scientific research capacity, observe the surrounding life and apply the knowledge of the subject to solve the problems in real life. STEM day not only recogized  the initial success of the students in their own project, but also became the meeting of educators, the STEM alliance and the whole community. From here. A foundation has been established to continue to effectively implement STEM education in schools.
